Together Has Debuted on Streaming, and It Has the Power to Test Your Partnership.

We present a test for long-term couples who appreciate the horror genre: Get comfortable with your loved one and stream Together. The critically acclaimed 2025 movie has now made its launch on a streaming platform on the Hulu service. Outwardly, it might appear like standard body horror, but within Together lies a intense meditation about the ways we decide to love one another.

A Debut Feature Investigating Partnership Complexities

Together is the introductory feature for director Michael Shanks. It showcases actors Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a couple named Tim and Millie, a pair who are not married that have remained a couple for ten years. United in marriage in reality in 2017, the two stars contribute a special spark to their roles, skillfully embodying both the strengths and weaknesses of a long-term relationship.

The narrative begins when Tim and Millie relocate from the metropolis to the countryside for her career. A familiar plot device, admittedly, but that’s mostly where the conventions cease. Together transforms into as much a examination of mental states of the pair’s relationship as it is a body horror flick.

A Paranormal Spark

While walking near their new home, a violent storm occurs, and the two fall into an hole in the earth. After a night spent there and finally finding a way out, a mysterious influence begins influencing the duo. This force compels a otherworldly bond between them that goes exceeding simple connection.

The entire film is a gradually intensifying horror experience, blending moments of hallucinatory nightmares, unsettling (but tastefully done) biological grotesqueries, and surprisingly comedic interactions (sometimes amidst something grotesque). Michael Shanks orchestrates these parts expertly and wraps them up in a slowly mounting atmosphere of fear.

Nuanced Portrayals

A significant portion of Together is solely the two lead actors, and they masterfully render numerous complexities to the dynamic between Tim and Millie. Millie’s confidence and feeling of intimacy is waning due to a emotional and physical gap. Her unspoken irritation of Tim for his reluctance to chase only his floundering music career inexorably rises.

Conversely, Tim feels trapped and separated by Millie, who’s the impetus they’ve moved to the country and far away from his social circle. He is terrified of the idea of utterly sacrificing his sense of self in another person. This fear is amplified by the fact he lacks a driver's license and needs Millie for getting around.

The film's most intelligent aspect is that he avoids making one partner or the other the definite antagonist.

Both characters confront the sort of issues that arise in long-term unions a decade in. Fundamentally, they still love one another. They still laugh together, offer support, and are vulnerable at times. But under the surface, there’s an inescapable undercurrent of doubt about their relationship.

Symbolism and Metaphor

While the otherworldly presence in Together represent these anxieties of codependency and giving oneself over to a partner, the symbolism does not come across as hamfisted or heavy-handed. Instead, these visceral horror elements offer a brilliant analogue to the interpersonal storytelling. Both the horror and the drama enhance each other in harmony.

A Divisive Ending

Together’s ending, which won’t be spoiled here, has left audiences divided on the film’s ultimate message about unhealthy partnerships. It has been said that unattached audience members have seen the movie as a compelling reason for staying single. Meanwhile, some couples having disagreements found that the film ended up guiding them to make up.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own response could function as a telling indicator of how you view relationships. Will the finale sow feelings of uneasiness and dread, or a uplifting feeling of optimism? Will you identify in one of the characters and feel frustration, or simply glance toward your partner and utter, “We could get through that together”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an exploration you can experience right now.

Together is currently playing on the streaming service Hulu now.
