19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.
But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.
He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.
The opponent defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
